Merino Wool. Wash and Care.

Merino Wool it’s our favourite natural fibre and you will find it in the majority of our socks. To have all we need in a perfect balance between performance and ecological footprint. Know how to wash and care will allow you to wear it more often and longer. And that’s why we dedicate a chapter to this topic.

Naturally wear it more often without washing.

Wool merino is the most natural odour resistant fibre. You can wear it several times before washing it.
The merino wool fibres absorb bacteria, avoiding them from reproducing. So, naturally, your socks and garments will have less unpleasant smells.
Test it yourself. But don’t fool yourself: to have the benefits of merino wool make sure you buy products with a high percentage of wool content (without “enemy” synthetic mixtures).
For garments, we recommend at least 75% of wool and for socks at least 60%.

DON’T OVER-WASH

Save the planet from excessive and polluting washing.
You have the power to make the difference.

EASY CARE

Merino Wool is incredibly easy to care. For some consumers, it can sound strange but this fibre is incredibly thin and light, with no comparison with the thicker and heavy products of the past. Know how to wash and care will allow you to wear it more often and longer.

WASH

Separate light and dark colours.
Turn inside out

Machine Wash: gentle cycle with warm or cool water.

Cold water is more gentle and uses less energy.

Use mild soap (never use bleach or softener… softener coats merino fibres, destroying their natural moisture management and thermoregulation features).

DRY

You can tumble-dry (low setting) but we suggest air-drying.
It will reduce the footprint, reduces your energy bill and extends the product life.
The merino wool clothes don’t take too long to air dry… just lay them flat (to keep the shape).

DRY CLEANING

Dry-cleaning: check each garment.
For most of them, dry cleaning is possible but remember it will reduce the life of your product.

STORE

Store your garments folded rather than hung.
Regarding socks, they should be stored flat or folded (never rolled into balls).

IRON

You can iron, inside out, in a cool or specific setting.
But you can avoid it: merino garments goes back to shape easily if you lay them flat.
We also recommend steaming to get out any wrinkles (you can put it on a hanger in the bathroom during a shower).

PILLING

Pilling is natural and results from rubbing during wear.
It’s complex and depends on many factors, including the wearer performance
and the surfaces you are in contact with.
We recommend to wash them between 3 wears because it will stabilize the pilling.
Anyway, if your garment develops some undesirable pills, you can remove them:
* Easily by hand if you have only a few pillings
* Use a comb but you need to be very careful to not damage your garment
* Or use some specific devices known as “depillers” or “fabric shavers”
